Over 30 3i investee companies attended 3SGM World congress in 2007, the worlds' largest mobile trade show. This was the fourth year that 3i's global technology Venture Capital team have attended en masse, taking advantage of the presence of all major players in the global mobile industry in one place.

As a result of the show, 3i's global Venture Capital team generated several new investment leads and forged many new partnerships for 3i backed companies.

3i organised an impressive venue for the week, the Hotel Catalonia Ramblas, where the 3i team and 3i backed portfolio stayed and enjoyed networking cocktail parties with over a total 730 guests on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

In order to showcase 3i's broad reach in the industry, our key theme was "mobile trends in China". 3i had the honour of presenting the Chairman of Digitone, China's largest mobile phone retailer, Mr Donghai Liu, to be the keynote speaker at its China Mobile Retail Lunch on Wednesday 14th February which was hosted by 3i Chief Executive Philip Yea. We also organised a VIP programme for Digitone where they visited Phonehouse and we made a personal introduction to Orange's Global CEO and several relevant portfolios.
