Nujira was founded in 2002 with the objective of reversing the trend of falling PA efficiency.

With the growing penetration of mobile telephone networks around the world, there is an increased need to improve capacity, without significantly increasing a network’s Capex (Capital Expense) and Opex (Operating Expense.

This can be achieved through Nujira’s patented high-power High Accuracy Tracking (HAT) technology, which produces significant power amplifier (PA) efficiencies in 3G mobile basestations. This helps networks and system integrators expand their reach and equipment capacity, while keeping the total cost of ownership down.

It did so through the development of drain modulation technology, which is suitable for both high and low-power applications. Initial implementations of this technology targeted the challenging applications of high-power, multi-carrier Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) basestations.

In basestation applications there are numerous knock-on benefits of improved PA efficiency, such as the removal of fan cooling, air-conditioning systems, back-up batteries and power supplies. This equates to reduced OPEX and maintenance costs, as well as a reduction in the physical basestation form factor.

Nujira’s technology can be applied to any modulation standard where the envelope power varies over time. Applying the company’s technology into handsets and PDAs can result in increased talk-times and reduced heating effects.

Those companies using Nujira’s power supply modulators can build ultra high efficiency amplifiers into their own products. Nujira also provides its customers with a range of reference platforms, licensable Intellectual Property (IP) and services.
